Chandler had undergone plastic surgery and regularly administered Botox injections in his face that made him virtually unrecognizable from the time he first accused Jackson 16 years ago, said The New York Post.
Mr. Chandler accused Jackson on behalf of his then-13-year-old son. It was the accusation that initiated Michael Jackson’s fall from public grace. After a 13-month proble by police, the case never went to court because Mr. Chandler and his son settled the case with Jackson out of court for $20 million. Despite paying out millions to persuade Jordan Chandler to drop the case, Jackson always denied wrongdoing.
Both parties signed a confidentiality agreement not to talk about the cas,e but in 1996 Mr. Chandler filed a $60 million suit against Jackson and Jackson's then-wife Lisa Marie Presley. It was claimed that they breached the agreement by talking about the case on television. The lawsuit was dismissed three years later.
In 2005, Jackson was cleared by a jury after another boy, Gavin Arvizo, alleged he had been molested at the singer’s Neverland ranch.
Jackson died in June this year of a drug overdose at the age of 50. His personal doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, is the focus of a police investigation.
Jordan Chandler is now 29 and lives in Long Island, New York under an assumed name. He has never spoken publicly about the allegations.
After learning of Chandler’s death yesterday, former Santa Barbara County Sheriff Jim Thomas, the officer in charge of the first Jackson probe, said: "Everybody in this whole saga was touched tragically."
